CAPTAIN SHREVE GRAD KILLED AT NASHVILLE SCHOOL SHOOTING

On March 27, a shooting occurred at The Covenant Presbyterian School in Tennessee, resulting in the death of three adults and three children.

Cynthia Peak, a substitute teacher and native of Leesville, was one of the victims. Peak grew up in Vernon Parish, attending Leesville High School until her family relocated to Shreveport during her sophomore year.

She later graduated from Captain Shreve High School in 1979, and then from Texas Christian University in 1983. (cont. below)

Despite not graduating from Leesville High School, she visited the town occasionally throughout the years and attended class reunions.

Peak lived in Alabama and Tennessee with her husband and three children.

The other two adult victims of the shooting were the head of the school, Dr. Katherine Koonce, a Baton Rouge native who had been at the school for seven years, and a custodian, Mike Hill.

The shooter was identified as Audrey Hale, a former student at the school, who was killed by law enforcement.
